How it works

Start with a project description. Plexus screens the site, identifies likely review needs, and opens a workspace where the team can manage the work and its supporting record.

  1. 01

    Describe the project

Enter what is proposed, its size, and its location. Plexus checks the site against public agency maps and data.

  2. 02

    Review the likely requirements

See the preliminary SEQR classification, possible permits and agencies, and study areas to review. Each item includes its basis.

  3. 03

    Plan the work

Create tasks for studies, filings, agency coordination, and open questions. Assign owners and track progress.

  4. 04

    Run available calculations

Use published methods to prepare planning estimates. When fieldwork or a specialist is required, Plexus tells you what to request.

  5. 05

    Coordinate with agencies

Keep contacts, correspondence, responses, and deadlines with the project instead of across separate email threads.

  6. 06

    Build the record

Keep every document, source, input, calculation, and agency response with the work it supports.

How we test it

We test calculations against completed reviews.

We run Plexus calculations on completed New York projects and compare the results with the studies that were filed for those projects.

We publish the result, sample size, test standard, and known limitations. When a calculation does not meet its standard, we say so.

What Plexus can do today

Plexus supports 21 study types. 8 include a planning calculation, and 1 has met its current test standard against filed studies. The other 13 help teams organize review work and sources but do not calculate a result. See our approach, study by study →

See how each result was produced

Every result stays connected to the project facts, source, calculation, and next action behind it. Your team can check the work and see what still needs professional review.

WHAT PLEXUS FOUNDMapped conditions are screened against the project boundary.

The result names the public dataset, its date, and whether the mapped feature intersects the site or remains nearby.

Check the source. Open any result to see the source and project facts used.

Review the calculation. Every result carries the figures it used, the assumptions, the method and its standing.

Know who must decide. Plexus clearly marks work that needs a practitioner, specialist, or agency.
